Album News: Born Ruffians Announce Sophomore Effort, ‘Say It’

Born RuffiansFollowing a massively successful Australian tour in 2009 (including St Jerome’s Laneway Festival), Canada’s Born Ruffians return with their highly anticipated new album, ‘Say It’, this 28th May on Warp Records.

Produced by Rusty Santos (Animal Collective, Owen Pallett, Panda Bear), ‘Say It’ is an album that’s smart, ambitious, and characteristically infectious.

“We had two and a half weeks to work on Say It,” Lalonde says, “which wasn’t quite a luxurious amount of time, but it was more luxurious than we had during the sessions for Red, Yellow and Blue, when we had two weeks to record and mix it. Then, we were doing two songs a day.”

Having performed on cult UK series ‘Skins’, achieved massive spins on Triple J for 2008 single “Hummingbird”, and toured with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip and Peter, Bjorn & John; Born Ruffians are no strangers to frenzied attention. With a sound that regularly garners comparisons to everyone from Vampire Weekend and The Strokes to Pavement and The Pixies, they make music of kinetic energy and unshakeable confidence.

‘Say It’ is out 28th May on Warp through Inertia.
