MP3: The Tallest Man On Earth – “King of Spain”

The Tallest Man On Earth

Late last month, Swedish troubadour The Tallest Man On Earth (real name:  Kristian Matsson) released his second album, ‘The Wild Hunt’ (code name: The Most Emotionally Raw, Acoustically Rugged, Lyrically Evocative Album on Earth).

It pretty much swept the entire Inertia office off its feet. Or in the immortal words of Renee Zellweger, it had us at “hello”.

The Tallest Man On Earth’s charms are pretty apparent. He’s got the earnest delivery, ragged vocals, and soulful insight, which regularly see him compared to a young Bob Dylan. But like the best of his contemporaries (Bon Iver, Joanna Newsom), he manages to celebrate what’s timeless about folk music, without ever making it feel less that utterly electrifying.
