MP3: Tracey Thorn – “Why Does The Wind?”

Tracey Thorn

In these days of economic turmoil and high global unemployment, it wouldn’t hurt to have Tracey Thorn’s résumé:

  • 1980-1983: Played in seminal lo-fi, girl-band, Marine Girls – with professed fans including Kurt Cobain and The XX.
  • 1982–2002: Frontwoman for iconic alt-pop group, Everything But The Girl. Producing a handful of global mega-hits.
  • 2007: Recorded solo album, helmed by Berlin superproducer Ewan Pearson.

Yet despite this impressive CV, she’s been out of sight for a few years now. Accordingly, it’s likely that – like us – you’re missing that unmistakably soulful croon of hers (like the deserts miss the rain).

Well, here’s your fix: a free mp3 of Tracey’s all-new single, “Why Does The Wind?” – taken from her latest solo album, ‘Love and its Opposite’.

The track sees Thorn team back up with Ewan Pearson (who’s recently been producing for Delphic, Goldfrapp, and M83) for a lusciously cool gust of synth-pop.
