MP3: The School – “Is He Really Coming Home?”

The School

Is The Ed Sullivan Show still taking bookings? If so, I reckon The School are a shoe-in. With their doo-wop harmonies and sugar-sweet arrangements, the eight-piece are pure American Graffiti – which is interesting, seeing as they’re from Wales.

Led by Liz Hunt, the band have a close affinity with nostalgic pop acts like Saturday Looks Good To Me and The Pipettes. The music harks back to 60s girl-groups, Chevrolet Impalas, and ice-cream sodas. The lyrics tackle love, youth, discovery, and other wonderful things.

Listening to these guys will take you to that special somewhere. It’s that first kiss at the Enchantment Under The Sea dance. It’s street racing with Harrison Ford. It’s that big, final dance number at Rydell High.
