Video: The Tongue Reprimanded by Elefant Traks over Violent “Incident”
Answering questions surrounding his forthcoming album, ‘Alternative Energy’, The Tongue had what many reports have labelled a “meltdown” – becoming enraged before instigating a physical altercation with a journalist.
“We respectfully request you keep in mind Elefant Traks’ generally good reputation as we pass on some less than flattering news,” said the Elefant Traks’ self-proclaimed spin doctor, Richard Tamplenizza.
“The internet chatter circulating from an ‘incident’ that took place at The Tongue’s album announcement press conference has forced us to make a public statement addressing the issue. Elefant Traks has footage from the press conference that we have made available below in the interest of transparency. We unequivocally condemn any musician resorting to violence against music journalists and The Tongue has been disciplined for his behaviour.”

This isn’t the first time violence has plagued practitioners of the musical genre known coloquially as “hip hop”. In 1990, it is alleged that rap mogul Suge Knight dangled pioneering emcee, Vanilla Ice, from a hotel balcony in order to obtain the rights to Ice’s genre-defining hit, “Ice Ice Baby”. In 2007, respected urban music personality, Akon, was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after picking up an adolescent fan and throwing him off stage during a performance.
The Tongue has emphatically denied involvement in either incident.
While The Tongue seems to be keeping a low profile in wake of the press conference, he will be back in the public eye in September, with the official release of ‘Alternative Energy’ on Friday 10th, and its official Sydney launch show at the Sandringham Hotel on Friday 17th.
Sydney: Sat 17th September @ Sandringham Hotel (w/ Special Guests) (Tickets)
‘Alternative Energy’ is out 10th September on Elefant Traks through Inertia.
