New Signing: Sub Pop joins the Inertia family
In keeping with our tradition of working with the world’s leading independent labels, Inertia is thrilled to announce the signing of an exclusive Australian distribution deal with iconic imprint, Sub Pop.
Effectively immediately, the partnership will encompass all forthcoming releases, as well as Sub Pop’s legendary back catalogue.
“Sub Pop is one of the most influential labels to have ever existed,” says Inertia MD, Colin Daniels. “Having the opportunity to work with the label and its artists is a dream come true for the Inertia team”.
“Inertia has earned a global reputation for solid business practices, competence and savvy,” says Sub Pop’s Jonathan Poneman. “We are excited to have Inertia represent Sub Pop in Australia”.
Based out of Seattle, Sub Pop changed the face of rock music in the 1980s and 1990s, acting as an early home to acts including Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney.
Leading the indie-pop agenda throughout the 00s, the label also helped launch the careers of the likes of The Shins, CSS and Band Of Horses.
Today, Sub Pop’s roster encompasses an enormous array of talent, including Fleet Foxes, Flight Of The Conchords, The Postal Service, Wolf Parade, Tiny Vipers, Blitzen Trapper, Iron & Wine, Male Bonding, Happy Birthday, Dum Dum Girls, The Ruby Suns, The Album Leaf, Avi Buffalo, Jaill, CocoRosie, and more!
Inertia’s partnership with Sub Pop will kick off with the release of new albums from acclaimed L.A DIY duo No Age (‘Everything In Between’), indie-pop dynamo Kelley Stoltz (‘To Dreamers’), as well as the first album in 20+ years from pioneering Glasgow duo (not to mention Kurt Cobain’s favourite band), The Vaselines (‘Sex With An X’).
Information regarding local release dates will be available shortly.
