MP3: Floating Me – “Sugar”

Floating Me
Floating Me
are a Frankenstein’s Monster, stitched together from some freakishly intimidating parts. The drums of Cog’s Lucius Borich, the bass of Karnivool’s Jon Stockman, and the vocals, guitar and keyboard of Scarymother’s Andrew Gillespie, Antony Brown and Tobias Messiter.

Transplant in the production brains of Forrester Savell – studio guru behind The Butterfly Effect and Dead Letter Circus – and you’ve got something that’d make Mary Shelley’s hair turn gray (y’know, if she wasn’t long dead already).

While little is currently known about the project (ain’t even a picture at this stage), the group have hinted via their MySpace that they’ll begin announcing their first live dates by the end of 2010 and aim to release an album in early 2011.

In the meantime, they’re sharing their anything-but-candy-coated first single, “Sugar”. The track is a dark, haunting slab of groove-laden, progressive rock. It’s cinematic. It’s ghoulish. It’s alive!
