Stream: The XX’s Jamie Smith reworks Gil Scott-Heron on ‘We’re New Here’

The xx‘s Jamie Smith has reworked Gil Scott-Heron‘s new album, ‘I’m New Here’, and will release the result on XL Recordings in February 2011.

Iconic blues artist and spoken word poet, Heron, released  ‘I’m New Here’ – his first album in 13 years – earlier this year to universal critical acclaim. Accordingly, Jamie will entitle his re-imagined recordings ‘We’re New Here’.

The exciting collaborative project was produced while Jamie was touring with The xx, following the band’s breakthrough, Mercury Prize winning debut in 2009.

“NY Is Killing Me” is the first song to be debuted from ‘We’re New Here’. Check it out below.
