MP3/Video: Gang Gang Dance – “Mindkilla”

Gang Gang Dance

I still remember that day in 2008 when Gang Gang Dance‘s  ‘Saint Dymphna’ came along and drilled a hole in my skull and swirled about in my brain and left me fried out of my mind. It felt as though they were creating new genres, just to fuse them with other new genres, just to create freakish danceable hybrids, just so that Florence Welch  could steal them. I didn’t get much work done that week.

Zoom forward to 2011 and the NYC electronic collective are back at it again: taking bright ideas and synthesisers and fusing them together using crazy glue and mutant DNA. Their new full-length, ‘Eye Contact’, will be out this May and it’s gonna own you.

You can download and watch the video for first single, “Mindkilla”, below. Much like yesteryear’s classic “House Jam”, it’s a mesmeric number that’ll lurk in your thoughts long after you haul your battered body from the dancefloor.

I never believed a word Gloria Estefan said before, but now I’m worried she was right: the rhythm is gonna get you.
