Video: Triple J premiere Friendly Fires’ “Hurting” Lightbox Session
The good folks over at Triple J are obviously as excited as we are about the release of Friendly Fires‘ new album ‘Pala’. They’re premiering this exclusive clip of the band performing “Hurting” for the Lightbox Sessions.
Named after the island in Aldous Huxley’s 1962 novel ‘Island’, ‘Pala’ has been produced by a mixture of Friendly Fires themselves and Paul Epworth (award winning producer with credits including Bloc Party, Cee-Lo Green, Florence and the Machine, remixes for Santigold and P. Diddy).
‘Pala’ is set to build on the success of Friendly Fires’ eponymous debut album that was released in September 2008 and went on to sell over 200,000 copies in the UK, picking up a Mercury Prize nomination and two Brit Awards nominations along the way. The new album features musical collaborations with America’s premier gospel choir, the world famous Harlem Gospel Choir (on ‘Hurting’) and Holy Ghost’s Alex Frankel (who plays Clavinet on ‘True Love’).
