Lavish, decadent, glitzy are the few words that spring to mind after listening to a Patrick Wolf tune and this Hurts ‘Time of My Life’ remix of delivers just that, with the elements you’d expect from Wolf; magnified tenfold.

Compared to the original which was filled with lush string arrangements and harmonizing guitar riffs, the Hurts remix is loud, throbbing and worthy of a fist pump here and there in the air.  The handclaps from the original is replaced with heavy, jungle thumping electronic drums and snare, whilst the orchestral hits and synths heighten the intensity, placing emphasis on the fact this was inspired by love lost and Wolf’s sense of empowerment as he faces the reality of moving on (‘happy without you’ is one catchy chorus).

Definitely worth a listen with a pair of quality headphones. Up loud. Fists in the air.
