Signing: Sharon Van Etten joins Jagjaguwar!
Known for a voice of stark power and subtle refinement, Sharon Van Etten has announced that she has newly signed to Jagjaguwar. Her third full-length album will be released in Australia during early 2012 through Inertia.
Over the course of releasing two full-length albums Van Etten has been celebrated by fans and critics alike for her raw mastery in writing introspective songs with direct honesty and feeling. Now she will join seminal indie rock label Jagjaguwar, and with a roster including Bon Iver, Okkervil River, Black Mountain and Dinosaur Jr, it is most certainly a fitting home.
A consistent touring force, over the last year she has opened the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival, headlined her own tour and shared the stage with Junip in the U.S., The National overseas, and played select shows with Iron & Wine as well as collaborating with Justin Vernon and Megafaun for the Songs of the South project. In the last year, Van Etten has received expansive attention from the media, including accolades from The New York Times, the New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, SPIN, NPR Music, Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Chicago Tribune, to name a few.
All that being said, Van Etten is really just getting started. Her new album has something seriously special in the works and will be produced by Aaron Dessner (The National).
