News: Big Scary Nominated for Triple J Award
Melbourne boy/girl duo Big Scary have had their debut 2011 release ‘Vacation’ nominated for the J Awards in the ‘Best Album’ category.
This comes as no surprise for the ‘stupidly talented’ two with their breakthrough single “Gladiator” getting heavy rotation on the station.
Of the nomination, Triple J presenter Dom Alessio says: “They effortlessly go from White Stripes-esque rockers like ‘Purple’ to plaintive ballads like ‘Bad Friends’, and the record still manages to sound cohesive and unified. Vacation beautifully embodies the “less is more” philosophy of Big Scary’s fantastic, minimalist pop music.”
The nomination sees them up against an elite field of peers, including The Jezabels, Kimbra, Gotye, Drapht, Architecture In Helsinki and Art vs Science.
Previous winners of the award include Tame Impala, Sarah Blasko, The Presets, The Panics and more.
