News: Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon makes album with rapper Astronautalis

To borrow a line from Queensbridge legend Nasty Nas, ‘Somehow the rap game reminds me of the folk game’. Well, that wasn’t quite what he said, but as it turns out, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon has recorded an album with Minneapolis rapper Astronautalis at Vernon’s April Base studio in Wisconsin.

S. Carey, also of Bon Iver, and Ryan Olson our Gayngs are also involved in the project, although details are few and far between at this stage. Apparently Vernon, Carey, and Olson recorded eight tracks for Astro to rap over, but we shouldn’t expect a straightforward hip-hop record.

Check Astro’s Tumblr for further details.
