News: Jneiro Jarel & DOOM form joint project JJ DOOM! Debut album to be released this August!
Hip-hop duo JJ DOOM will release their forthcoming debut album, ‘Key To The Kuffs’.
The joint project is comprised of shapeshifting producer Jneiro Jarel and hip hop maverick DOOM (formerly MF DOOM).
The album features collaborations with Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Khujo Goodie (Willie Isz) and Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz). After unveiling their first single “Banished” in February, the duo have since been working on ‘Key To The Kuffs’, which sees DOOM rapping typically intricate, witty, head-spinning rhymes over JJ’s rugged and innovative beats.
DOOM is a cult-figure in the hip-hop world, known for wearing a mask from Marvel comic book character Dr. Doom, and more importantly his ingenious word play. This collaboration is the latest of many for the rapper who has also worked with Danger Mouse, Ghostface Killah and KMD. Jneiro Jarel (beat making alias Dr. Who Dat?) is also not shy of collaboration, having worked on past projects with Willie Isz and Khujo Goodie, and produced remixes for Radiohead, TV on the Radio and Bjork.
Artwork for ‘Key To The Kuffs’ was designed by NYC graffiti artist Steve Powers (aka ESPO) and the album’s tracklist is included below.
