Comp: M83 announces competition to create the official video for “Steve McQueen”!
French electro act, M83 has announced a competition for the creation of the official music video for “Steve McQueen”. The track is from the band’s sixth studio album ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ out now on Pod | Inertia. The competition will allow complete creative freedom and wide open interpretation of the song, though Anthony Gonzalez (AKA M83) has something for you to keep in mind: “It’s not about the actor!”
The winner, chosen by M83 and Genero will receive the equivalent of £3,000 and have their video used as the official music video for “Steve McQueen”. Outstanding videos will also be nominated for the 2012 Genero Awards and in the running for $25,000 in prizes. The deadline for entries is Monday 10th September 2012 at 9:00pm EST.

‘Hurry Up We’re Dreaming’ was released in October 2011 to huge critical acclaim and worldwide chart success. The first single ‘Midnight City’ quickly became the biggest song of the year, coming in at the #No1 song of 2011 as voted by Pitchfork & the #No.5 song in the Triple J Hottest 100 as voted by the nation; with millions of hits on YouTube to date and still counting.
Since then, the French producer turned reluctant pop star has toured the world with much talked about live shows including a highlight performance at the Coachella Festival, shortly before releasing second single from the album, ‘Reunion’. Watch the video here.
Most recently M83 played the Somerset House Series in the UK, which sold out in an hour and received unrivalled acclaim.
