News: The Heavy exclusively reveal ‘The Glorious Dead’ on Billboard Magazine Online!
Listen: The Heavy – The Glorious Dead
Self-produced and with their unique, raw eclecticism fully intact, ‘The Glorious Dead’ is the band’s most fully-realised record yet, mixing together soul, hip-hop, rock, blues and funk into glorious, raucous party music that is equally full of heart.
In addition to the exclusive premiere, The Heavy will be performing “What Makes A Good Man?”, the album’s first single, on The Late Show With David Letterman on August 30. The band will be making a return appearance after their unforgettable and highly talked-about 2010 performance of their breakout hit “How You Like Me Now?” The Heavy is also confirmed for an upcoming appearance on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.
Between the laid-back sincerity of “Curse Me Good,” the funked-up hip hop rhythm of “Big Bad Wolf” and the epic, hard-hitting gospel rock ‘n’ roll of “Same ‘Ol” and “What Makes A Good Man?”, the album serves as guitar heavy neo-soul at it’s best. Throughout, vocalist Kelvin Swaby’s voice soars, packed with yearning and pure soul. The video for “What Makes A Good Man?” spotlights a rather “eventful” and excessive day in the life of a New Yorker. To view the video click here.
‘The Glorious Dead’ is due out August 24th on Counter Records through Inertia
