Imagine Brian Eno and David Bowie meeting Bach in the Cantina Bar of Star Wars. Think harpsichord duelling with synth. Think lute in a love-in with electric guitar. Now imagine that The Future Is Baroque…
To celebrate a decade of making music, Sydney’s Dappled Cities present The Future Is Baroque, a one-off event that re-works and re-imagines their music in a baroque context. The event will take place at Sydney Festival’s Paradiso at Town Hall this coming January 22nd, 2013.
Always aiming for genre-defying experimentation, The Future Is Baroque is Dappled Cities’ first major headline performance at Sydney Festival and will act as the launch event for their ‘Decade Of Dappled Cities’ celebrations to take place throughout the year.
For The Future Is Baroque, Dappled Cities’ current line-up of Tim Derricourt, Alex Moore, David Rennick, Allan Kumplainen and Ned Cooke will be joined on stage by previous members Mark Bradshaw (keys/vocals), Hugh Boyce (percussion/drums) and a variety of programmers and vocalists they have worked with over the last ten years.
