Watch: The Lumineers perform “Ho Hey” on Letterman
US indie folk trio The Lumineers have earned a swathe of fans in the wake of their massive single “Ho Hey”. Last week the band went on The Tonight Show with David Letterman to perform the song live.
Founding band members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites moved away from the bright lights of NYC and settled in Denver, Colorado, where they met their third member, the classically trained Neyla Pekare. In 2011, an eponymous, self-recorded EP led to a self-booked tour, and before long The Lumineers started attracting devout fans, first across the Western US, then back in their old East Coast stamping grounds.
The roots revival of the last few years has primed listeners for a new generation of rustic, heart-on-the-sleeve music, with The Lumineers’ single “Ho Hey” recently earning the honour of becoming Billboard’s #1 Top Rock Song.
