Watch: Sharon Van Etten covers Nick Cave for Triple J’s “Like a Version”
While on her recent Australian tour, Brooklyn-based US singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten stopped by Triple J to perform the first “Like a Version” cover of 2013.
Van Etten will be touring North America in March with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as they support their new record, ‘Push The Sky Away’. For Triple J’s “Like a Version”, Sharon performed “People Ain’t No Good” from Cave’s 1997 album ‘The Boatman’s Call’. She followed with a typically powerful yet intimate performance of “Give Out”, taken from her current album ‘Tramp’.

Over the course of releasing two full-length album, Van Etten has been celebrated by fans and critics alike for her raw mastery in writing introspective songs with direct honesty and feeling. A consistent touring force, she has opened the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival, headlined her own tour and shared the stage with Junip in the U.S., The National overseas, and played select shows with Iron & Wine, as well as collaborating with Justin Vernon and Megafaun for the Songs of the South project. Sharon also recently took out The Fly’s ‘Album of the Year’ with her highly praised record ‘Tramp’.
