News: Rodríguez discusses the possibility of a third album
The Detroit-based singer-songwriter Sixto Rodríguez, better known simply as Rodríguez, has revealed the possibility of a third album. Rodríguez told Rolling Stone that after he returns from his June tour, he will discuss the possibility of a new record with Steve Rowland, the producer of 1971′s ‘Coming from Reality’, one of two albums resurrected in the Oscar-nominated documentary ‘Searching for Sugar Man’.
Rodríguez’s career began over forty years ago with the release of his debut album ‘Cold Fact’ in 1970. The following year he released ‘Coming from Reality’ and subsequently disappeared into obscurity, only to find success later in life thanks to a huge fan base in South Africa and Australia. Both of Rodríguez’s early albums have been re-released through Seattle label Light in the Attic.
Discussing the possibility of a third album, Rodríguez told Rolling Stone, “He [Steve Rowland] told me to send him a couple of tapes, so I’m gonna do that. I certainly want to look him up, because now he’s full of ideas.”
