Machinedrum to release new album ‘Vapor City’ in September
Electronic music’s Renaissance man Travis Stewart, better known as Machinedrum, is prepping for his biggest and boldest release to date – ‘Vapor City’ out 20th September on Ninja Tune via Inertia.
With ‘Vapor City’, his first official release on Ninja Tune, Stewart went back to the drawing board armed with inspirations sprouting deeper from within his psyche. Stewart announced the Ninja Tune signing with Billboard last March and christened it at his surprise SXSW performance for the label’s showcase. Based on recurring dreams he has had for a lifetime about a metropolis known as ‘Vapor City’, which have become so vivid that Stewart can describe the place in detail district by district, he has finally crafted a fully-formed soundscape which doubles as a map into this imaginary universe.
“The album was inspired by a dream city – not only my own dream city but anyone’s dream city,” explains Stewart. “It’s become such a recurring dream of mine throughout my life that I began creating music to it, a collection of different songs each representing a district in the city, Eyesdontlie is the first district, so welcome to Vapor City.”
