Kwes. Announces Debut Album ‘ilp’ – Out 11th October
After signing with Warp Records last year, multi-tasking UK singer/songwriter/record producer Kwes. is set to release his much anticipated album ‘ilp’, on 11th October through Inertia.
‘ilp’ explores observations of love essential to Kwes.’s upbringing in an intuitive process he has labelled as “Free-Pop”. Kwes. describes his wondrous musical examination of love in all of its peaks and troughs in ‘ilp’ as “Pop songs that can go anywhere. They can sometimes be very noisy, very quiet or somewhere in between. It’s more an ever-changing creative process with a few constants than a musical style.”
Influenced during childhood by artists such as Elliot, Madlib and Frank Zappa, Kwes. is a self-taught musical experimentalist that has produced with heavyweight industry players such as The xx, Dels, and Ghost Poet. After the release of his ‘Meantime’ EP last year, Kwes. has toured and worked with Bobby Womack, Damon and Micachu – not to mention being sampled by Kanye West – all of which are a testament to Kwes.’s all-encompassing musical talents.
Kwes. now pushes forward in this self-actualising album which is richer, fuller and freer than anything he’s created before.
