Stream: Clark premieres Barker & Baumecker ‘Spur’ rework

ClarkPremiered today is Clark’s rework of Barker and Baumecker’s “Spur”. Delivered midway during the mastering session for his new album ‘Feast / Beast’, it is Clark’s most recent remix.

New wistful synth washes over trademark cavernous Clark kicks. It is accompanied by a short animation by Cyriak, a Brighton (UK) based animator known for his surreal work including music videos for Flying Lotus, Bonobo and Bloc Party and collaborations with Adult Swim.

Clark says about the track, “I’ve always wanted to remix Sam Barker music, we’ve made a lot of material together… I wanted to do something with the stunning almost post rock melody at the end of the Barker & Baumecker track, so I gave it a kind of night time, hazy muted aesthetic that gets more widescreen and emotional as the tune progresses.”

The forthcoming ‘Feast / Beast’ is double album collecting the best of Clark remixes either by Clark or for Clark. Eschewing the completist method, the record was approached by Clark as if it were a brand new album; though it compiles a decades worth of Clark’s work, it also debuts twelve new tracks.

The package includes remixes of Depeche Mode, Nathan Fake, Amon Tobin, Massive Attack and many more.

‘Feast / Beast’ is out Sept. 13th on Warp Records via Inertia
