The Afghan Whigs First New Material In 16 Years

Sub Pop and Inertia are thrilled to announce the new album from The Afghan Whigs. Yes, you read that correctly, we said ‘new album’. In fact it’ll be the band’s first album since ‘1965‘ was released way back in 1998. If you’ve suffered through the 16 year absence of new material from these guys then now’s the time to get excited.

Forming way back in 1986, The Afghan Whigs have been a powerhouse of American rock and roll, creating a signature sound that signals life in the mid-west, with their style of mid-tempo songs in minor keys complemented by gloomy angst-ridden lyrics.

The lead single off the album, “Algiers” as well as the official video are an incredible taster for what’s to come with the rest of the album. Titled ‘Do To The Beast’, the album will be released on Friday 11th April 2014 – mark it in your diaries.

‘Do The Beast’ is available for pre-order from iTunes. Those who do will receive an instant download of “Algiers”.

You can watch the video for “Algiers” below.

‘Do To The Beast’ is out 11th of April 2014 on Sub Pop through Inertia.
