The Evens

INDIE
THE EVENS are a band from Washington, D.C. IAN MACKAYE (FUGAZI, TEEN IDOLS, MINOR THREAT) plays baritone guitar and AMY FARINA (THE WARMERS) plays drums. They both sing. Their songs are multifaceted yet efficient; straightforward yet sublime; you’ll hear a new detail each time…The Evens play stripped down, almost folk-like, variations on the rock song. Their
sound relies on intimacy as much as intensity, their lyrics as politically charged as they are emotionally wrought. Yet at the heart of the band\'s dynamic is a certain quietitude and sensitivity that ties all this together into a strong pop sensibility. Live, the band performs seated, choosing to
route their vocals through guitar amps rather than through the usual PA.
This, their eponymous debut, was recorded at Inner Ear Studios in 2004 and mastered at Silver Sonya soon thereafter. The Evens toured parts of the U.S. and Europe over the past year, with many (if not most) of their s ows booked at libraries, coffeehouses, churches and other public all ages spaces.
