\'Won\'t Get Over You\' is the debut solo album from MATT HANDLEY, singer/songwriter for Sydney\'s muchloved POLLYANNA. Handley\'s previous five albums of material fronting Pollyanna charted the ascendancy of an accomplished songwriter their debut album dominated alternative radio and Handley\'s songs became a large part of the soundtrack to the midlate \'90s.
The sound of this is somewhat familiar, the voice is unmistakable, the warm tones and ringing guitars sound as sweet as ever. But there is a deeper maturity and a newer perspective. A solo record in the truest sense, Handley produced the album and played all the instrumentation, DAVE GROHL style. A brushed snare, lightly strummed acoustic guitars, and reverbsoaked vibrato share the record with claustrophobic lofi drums, bitter, electric guitars, driven keys and fatigued vocals. Each track explores a facet of a relationship breakdown, but this is no high concept album about love; this is simple, openhearted songwriting, real playing, and true emotions.
