DANCEFLOOR SOUNDS FROM AUSTRALIA - MIXED BY NATHAN MCLAY
DJ Magazine "Album of the Issue" - Issue 417 / June 7 2006 (UK)
Having developed a reputation for quality through club nights featuring artists such as QUANTIC, ALICE RUSSELL, RAINER TRBY, RECLOOSE, DUBLEX INC and KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, FUTURE CLASSIC unveil a compilation previewing the immense quality of talent emerging from Australia's own shores
'Future Classic Attractions' features twelve exclusive tracks that meander tastefully from the living room to the dancefloor. Label boss NATHAN MCLAY introduces us to a stable of artists quickly making an international name for themselves through worldwide twelveinch vinyl releases on Future Classic and its cluboriented offshoot Risky Disko.
The preview is one of diversity and substance. There's epic future jazz from KIDZEN (back from working in the UK with 4HERO and BUGZ IN THE ATTIC), soulful broken beats courtesy of EDDIT (as charted by MAD MATS of Sweden's RAW FUSION imprint) and an exclusive track from MEEM to wet us with the taste of funk.On a deep house tip JAMIE LLOYD hints at why he is being compared to METRO AREA, while DEEPCHILD turns out his best remix to date in a sublime collaboration with GAUCHE.
MAKO (fresh from remixing UK duo SWAG) is followed by a standout electro floorfiller by the STICK FIGURES (having received props from DAMIAN LAZARUS) and another by TREK before things are gradually wound back with a brilliant broken beat rework of AMPHIBIAN by MARLOW and the nudisco sleeze of TOUCH SENSITIVE to leave us wanting more and anticipating what's next from this label.
