Home Demons Vol 1
Broken Horse
INDIE
> KEVIN TIHISTA grew up in Santa Cruz, California. After moving to Chicago, Kevin spent the next decade playing bass in a series of bands most notably TRIPLE FAST ACTION before joining VERUCA SALT very briefly for the recording of their doomed third album.
> Whilst playing in what could only be described as hard rocking bands. Kevin had always loved THE BEATLES and the LOVIN\' SPOONFUL, and in high school added the SMITHS, THE CURE, and AZTEC CAMERA to his favourites.
> Before long, word quickly began to spread and Kevin attracted the attention of London indie label EASY TIGER Who released his debut single in 1999. After ROUGH TRADE released a selftitled mini album in 2000, Kevin released his debut album \"Don\'t Breathe A Word\" in 2001 on ATLANTIC/WARNER BROS. This was critically acclaimed the world over, making 19 in UNCUT\'s Albums Of The Year chart.
> Last year Kevin reemerged with \"Wake Up Captain\", a 17track song cycle and his darkest work to date. UNCUT gave the album a rare 5/5 rating, describing it, \"Songs of Alienation and despair from reclusive Chicago genius\", and later made it 52 in Uncut\'s Album Of The Year chart. MOJO gave it 4/5 \"Soaring chamber pop from Chicago based thirtysomething\"
> Album professionally stickered with these quotes UNCUT 4/5 \"Another bag of delights from the prolific Chicago tunesmith\" ... WORD \"a curates egg of John Lennon loneliness and Tom Waits devilment, filled to the brim with great songs brilliantly showcasing Tihista\'s engaging vocals\" ... MOJO \"He sounds like the late Elliott Smith might have if he\'d been weened on ELO instead of the Beatles a wry, dreamyvoiced soul let loose in a deluxe soft Rock play pen\" ... WIRE \"This is Thista\'s most expressive and eclectic and therefore best albumlength release to date\" ... Q MAGAZINE: \"Delicious pop etchings from prolific U.S. troubadour. Kevin Tihista has been releasing inspired, upbeat takes on Elliot Smith\'s lofi melancholia for the best part of 6 years. \'Home Demons\' 21 tracks show a man in sparkling form. Bring on the second volume.\"... MAVERICK 4/5 \" Tihista is carving a legend all of his own\"
