Music From The Accumulator
Tummy Touch
BEATS
> ExHIGSONS drummer / percussionist SIMON CHARTERTON and session guitarist / harmonica player WILLIAM DENTON are new TUMMY TOUCH signings ZOOK.
> These North Londoners have been writing together (slowly) for 5 years and wanted to go back to basics with Zook, avoiding computer modern trickery, and opting to play everything themselves for real. An old fashioned idea, but in these times of ultra sterile pop, it might just be the answer. The result is an extremely addictive, laidback concoction of minimalist, bluesy dance music, or \'acoustic funk\'.
> Zook\'s ultrarelaxed approach to writing spilled over into their notso heavy recording schedule. Consequently, they\'ve only released a 7\" single, \'Slinky\', in Spring 2001 on their own EMPIRE label, following it up a mere 18 months later with second 7\" \'Slerky\'. Both sold out rapidly and were turntable favourites for DJs such as NORMAN JAY, GILLES PETERSON and JERRY DAMMERS.
> In 2004 TIM LOVE LEE heard the singles in New York and coaxed Zook out of hibernation to record \'Music From The Accumulator\', with special album appearances by BARRY from LITTLE BARRY on \"Spook\" and MARK from YOUNG DISCIPLES on \"Dulceton\".
