Kommunicator
Rapster
HIP HOP
- After the path-making 'Koolmotor' (2001) and the fabulous 'Kinkynasti'
(2003), FIVE DEEZ (an abbreviation of FIFTH DIMENSION), FAT JON, PASE ROCK,
SONIC and KYLE DAVID now return with 'Kommunicator', folding space and time
into small paper airplanes and beaming a gigantic digital funk ray over from
the great hip-hop continuum.
- Five Deez have worked with the likes of TALIB KWELI, DOSE ONE, ACEYALONE,
J. LIVE, PREFUSE 73, POLE, KING SOLOMON and ABSTRACT RUDE to name only a
few. They've been on compilations such as 'Superrappin', 'Hip Hop Don't Stop',
'Mystic Brew', 'DJ Morpheous Freezone', 'Listening Is Believing' and too many
more.
- With the Five Deez, it's not - and never has been - about tired phat
beats, generic hip hop styles and the ubiquitous MC behavior. "It's
definitely not a rap record", says MC and producer Fat Jon. Instead,
it is, in a sense a futuristic concept album within the hip-hop context,
while making sure that every song is a potential 12-inch.
- Dirty sounds over raw, sweeping, unrefined beats, infused with interference,
feedback and white noise. The whole album twists and turns like this, from
bass drum to snare drum, from rhythm to verse, from track to song... A captivating
futuristic hip hop excursion
- hop a lesson in production class and sonic style,
mission accomplished."
