INDIE
- A three-piece originally from Batimore and now based in Brooklyn,
Celebration are raw, frenetic and undiluted, yet somehow remain accessible.
- Already enjoying cult status stateside, there's a genuine buzz about
them and their music. It's all about their highly-charged live performances;
Katrina's intense energy and David's scattershot drumming are matched by
Sean's multi-instrumental virtuosity - he plays an armoury of organs, electric
keyboards, Moog bass pedals as well as a hand-built "guitorgan".
- For recording duties, TV ON THE RADIO's David Sitek was at the controls.
It's a meeting of minds, prompted by years of mutual admiration, and David
certainly helped Celebration to realise their sonic potential.
- PITCHFORK "(Celebration) create off-kilter Halloween funhouse
tracks, all spooky whistling organs and busily shuffling drums and unbalanced
time signatures. And (Katrina) Ford uses the tracks as launching pads, unleashing
her voice in all its glory. It's stunning and virtuosic."
