Acclaimed electronic producer DAEDELUS returns to the fray with 'Denies
The Day's Demise', a new album of electro-tropicalia.
The LA-based musician and producer always tries to do something thematic
with every release and the contrast with his first NINJA TUNE record could
hardly be more stark. If his last album 'Exquisite Corpse' was his hip-hop
album, this is his techno record.
There are no collaborations here; Daedelus choosing to strip it right
back to his own music and voice. In a further departure, this production
focuses on the live elements of his previous recordings rather than his well-known
sampling style. This is Daedelus naked, so to speak.
" sounds like carnivalé in halftime, all lament, and redemption...
that should whet the appetite!
UK Press Quotes for 'Exquisite Corpse': Q "Exquisite Corpse conjures
a magical cut'n'paste dimension where genteel lounge sways to disembodied
voices, clicks and beeps" ... RECORD COLLECTOR (((( "... DJ (((( "An
autopsy on Hip-Hop's greying cadaver...Perfectly balanced between mournful
surgery on hip hop's dead ends and positive rekindling of rap's creative
synapses" ... HIP HOP CONNECTION "Thumping electronica beats and
antique samples swirl around an impressive array of guest emcees from MF
Doom to Mike Ladd. Twenty listens later you'll still be finding new peaks
- high praise in times of hip-hop disposability".
