Throughout 2005 RICHARD D. JAMES released the 'Analord' series of twelve
inches under the AFX moniker on his label REPHLEX. APHEX TWIN fans and journalists
alike hailed the series as the best new work from him since 'Selected Ambient
Works 85-92'.
Rather than release a triple CD featuring all 41 tracks, AFX himself
has distilled the tunes into a cohesive album - as it was intended to be
heard.
'Chosen Lords' is the first full album of new material from RICHARD
D. JAMES since 'Drukqs' in 2001(and infinitely more listenable than that
notorious album!). Five years of waiting has left APHEX fans panting with
anticipation! He is still the best and most reliable selling 'electronica'
producer there is, appealing to thousands who would never think of buying
another electronic artist.
The sound? 'Chosen Lords' is partly inspired by NY electro, Chicago
house and Detroit techno classics - Mr. James going back to his roots. Without
the pressure or the anticipation of a 'new APHEX album' to react against,
one could say this album is his most honest & personal yet.
