Skeleton
Etch N Sketch
INDIE
'Skeleton' is the hotly anticipated sophomore album from the Danish
band FIGURINES. The album is riddled with infectious energetic hooks
and upbeat offbeat sounds. Frontman CHRISTIAN HJELM sounds like ISAAC
BROCK from MODEST MOUSE on amyl with a charm that only a bunch of Danes
could deliver. The album goes on to feature both stand out pop anthems
and more adventurous emotionally introspective tracks.
Whilst having a favourable sound that could be compared to BUILT To
SPILL or MODEST MOUSE, Figurines carve their own niche thanks to an
arsenal of refreshing, energetic hooks over a straightforward,
non-disruptive palette. 'Skeleton' delivers gigantic pop hooks in
stride, with charm to boot. > Just completed a sold out tour with
TAPES N TAPES through the US.
Sticked with these reviews: 8.3/10 PITCHFORK MEDIA "Figurines carve
out their own niche to an arsenal of refreshing, energetic hooks over a
straight forward, non-disruptive palette" ...ROLLING STONE (((( "I was
won over by their REPLACEMENTS-like verve (minus the constant threat of
alcoholic collapse) and spindly, colliding-overtone guitar...at high
tangled-jangle speed...these Danes sound a bit like FRANZ FERDINAND but
much closer to a first album STROKES with MERCURY REV's JONATHAN
DONOHUE yelping at the helm" ... SPIN.COM " Scandinavia, bless it's
heart, has stepped up to the plate and kindly exported their finest
indie rock band, Figurines"
