ALPHA release the second half of their 'Lost In A Garden Of Clouds' series, a 16 track mix of instrumental affairs, including some of the original rarities that first got them signed to MASSIVE ATTACK's MELANKOLIC label.
This album follows a similar style to part one with its dreamy loops and rhythms and soaring strings, but also includes some more upbeat moments that veer into mellow house territory.
ALPHA are often compared to such artists as AIR, BLUE STATES and THE AVALANCHES, and whilst those comparisons are fair, it is often forgotten that Alpha were the first to "evoke the colours that swim in your eyeballs after you have been staring at the sun too long" (DAVID STUBBS, UNCUT MAGAZINE). Their blend of live, at times jazzy instrumentation with atmospheric electronics also recalls the best work of SUSUMU YOKOTA, LEMON JELLY & TOSCA. Their understanding of melancholic melody is derived from their love of artists such as MICHEL LEGRAND, BRIAN ENO and BURT BACHARACH.
ALPHA are finishing work on their own remix album which will be out this year featuring mixes and collaborations they have done with (amongst others) ACID CASUALS, COLDPLAY (very rare remix of "Yellow"), Massive Attack, JARVIS COCKER and HORACE ANDY.
