Last year saw the release of TRANSCARGO's debut album 'Idle Luxury'
on the esoteric TRUNK RECORDS to a rapturous response. This took them touring
internationally thanks to their single "Oh Boy" being picked for
a Renault Clio ad.
TRANSCARGO's lush, cinematic & slightly psychedelic pop recalls
the finest, sweetest moments of SAINT ETIENNE, CHUNGKING, BROADCAST & IVY
with vocals from Emily Phillips that many say recall former BELLE & SEBASTIAN
singer ISOBEL CAMPBELL. Aided by the vintage gear they collect and which
can be heard in the expert layered production carried out by the in-demand
BARNY (who has mixed KASABIAN's and THE ARCTIC MONKEYS' recent debut albums)
the band generate a sound that is quite comfortable not fitting anywhere.
UNCUT ¬¬¬¬ "Transcargo's second album begins
with 'Left Bank', its strings, guitars and rolling bass recalling 'Angel'
from MASSIVE ATTACK'S 'Mezzanine'. But this tension is soon largely replaced
by sophistication, like GOLDFRAPP if they discarded their electro fetish" ...
THE TIMES ¬¬¬¬ "Sweet, chilled pop that will sound good
to fans of SAINT ETIENNE, THE SHORTWAVE SET and MORCHEEBA" ... CLASH "Most
definitely a band of our times and they look set to do the 21st century proud."
