'Desert Doughnuts' is an emotional journey of Dungeons & Dragons-esque proportions. Together Sierra and Matteah construct a surreal landscape of music inspired by the Great American Desert. The environment from which they have drawn so much inspiration is beautifully conveyed - air, sand, open space and windy caverns can all be heard in the music.
Features outstanding guest appearances from luminaries of the new folk movement, including DEVENDRA BANHART, ANTONY (ANTONY & THE JOHNSONS) , JANA HUNTER and GREG ROGROVE (TARANTULA AD)
CocoRosie have been hanging heavily in the spotlight after their successful sell-out tour earlier in the year, supporting Antony & the Johnsons and playing the Sydney Festival.
Whilst retaining a roots-based edge, the music and songs here are less structured than Sierra's other band. The operatic qualities of her voice transfer beautifully to this new project. 'Desert Doughnuts' is an album created by angels with second hand wings>
