Melbourne's beloved GERSEY return for their third full-length outing, and with it have delivered the finest recording of their career.
'No Satellites' is a beautiful and ambitious record, something that pushes their own boundaries whilst remaining quintessentially Gersey in its layered, atmospheric soundscape.
Gersey's two previous albums on TRIFEKTA, 'Hope Springs' (2000) and 'Storms Dressed As Stars' (2002), were very successful, the latter awarded a TRIPLE J Album Of The Week.
Signing to INERTIA RECORDINGS last year, the group released the 'Eyes Are Wide Tonight' EP (IR2505CD), which included the outstanding single "The Girl Is My Gun" (a track that remained at high rotation at TRIPLE J for months).
This record shows Gersey at the top of their game, and pushes them forward as one of Australia's finest contemporary rock bands. With its lush atmospherics and downbeat heartbreak slow burners, but with a their new, edgier, more dramatic side being amplified, there is plenty here to keep all fans of rock music happy.
'No Satellites' was again produced by MAGIC DIRT guitarist DEAN TURNER (who produced the EP) and mixed by Australia's finest, TIM WHITTEN (POWDERFINGER).
Indeed, anyone with a penchant for artists like STRAITJACKET FITS, U2, TEENAGE FANCLUB, THE CHURCH, WILCO and SONIC YOUTH will find satisfaction here.
