!K7 and INERTIA announce the release of the next DJ Kicks instalment from HENRIK SCHWARZ - a long time aficionado of the masters of soul, funk, disco, house and jazz - who harnesses some of the greatest artists in history to bring you the next DJ Kicks adventure.
Schwarz' roller coaster of a mix includes MOONDOG's jazz classic "Bird's Lament" (as sampled by MR SCRUFF on "Get A Move On"), JAMES BROWN's dancefloor shimmy "Since You've Been Gone", ARTHUR RUSSELL's trippy cosmic disco "Get Around To It", and the incomparable MARVIN GAYE's "You're The Man", as well as Henrik's beautiful exclusive track for this release, "Imagination Limitation" (K7207EP), just to name a few.
When Moondog segues into DOUBLE's blissful slice of Balearica, "Woman Of The World", it's clear that we are in the hands of a rare talent. For Henrik Schwarz is a DJ who utilises all the tools of the modern sound sculptor with a reverence for what has gone before. His unique way of blending minimal house and electro with funk and soul has got him fans all around the world, amongst which GILLES
PETERSON from BBC RADIO 1 is one the biggest.
Henrik himself admits that he didn't want to think too much about his mix, rather he let the music dictate what direction he went in. "I just selected the tracks and then played them," he admits. "It was more about the feeling of the mix, creating those emotions and combining extremes."
Henrik's DJ Kicks is an album that oozes class, style and musical history - a welcome addition to the series' influential catalogue.
BARTENDER "There's mixed CD series' and there's DJ Kicks. !K7 yet again pinpoints the money DJ and allows full reign. Currently, Henrik Schwarz occupies a rather large block of the warm-tech zeitgeist. This latest Kicks is 23 tracks of sheer brilliance underpinned by the truly classic Walk a Mile in My Shoes. Get it.
Touring Nationally in December both within festivals and solo shows! He is fantastic live also taking the crowd to the heavens, punching the air and his laptop in addition to the decks!
