The highly anticipated collaboration between FAT JON (FIVE DEEZ) and MORR MUSIC artist STYROFOAM (ARNE VAN PETEGEM).
Indie favourites Styrofoam have remixed such artists as MUM (FATCAT), THE AMERICAN ANALOGUE SET (TIGER STYLE), THE POSTAL SERVICE (SUB POP) and JIMMY EAT WORLD (INTERSCOPE). 'The Same Channel' proves once again the diverse talents this Antwerp based artist has to offer any project.
Surrounded by buttons and cables, guitars, synthesizers and microphones in Arne's studio in Antwerp, Fat Jon and Arne van Petegem recorded 'The Same Channel' over a few weeks.
The two got to know each other five years ago. In 2001, the guitarist and laptop-artist, Arne invited Fat Jon, an MC and DJ, still living in Cincinnati/Ohio at that time, to a workshop in Antwerp. What followed this first encounter was great respect for the music of the other as well as the idea of a common album.
'The Same Channel' has grown out of this. With the onomatopoeic guitars of Styrofoam with Fat Jon's repetitive idiom, his talent for laconic stories and the careful and detailed production that - without laying it on thick - makes clear that two well versed producers are at work.
