Song Of The Blackbird

On his third release, WILLIAM ELLIOTT WHITMORE continues to earn his reputation as one of the best voices in American music today.
Though he has yet to reach 30, his gravelly voice, themes of mortality, loss, and redemption; and spare accompaniment on banjo and guitar evoke an era before electricity and indoor plumbing!
Hailing from the farm country of rural Iowa, his voice is the one TOM WAITS has been after for years (imagine a cross between CAPTAIN BEEFHEART and DOCK BOGGS) and his folk- and blues-inflected songs feel like they've been left out in the rain for months, weathered and tightened to the snapping point.
On 'Song Of The Blackbird', there's a melodic warmth and spirit of renewal here that was nowhere to be heard on Whitmore's two previous albums.
In support of his SOUTHERN RECORDS album trilogy ('Hymns Of the Hopeless', 'Ashes To Dust', 'Song Of The Blackbird') William has performed nearly 500 shows across the USA, UK and Europe, touring with artists such as THE POGUES, MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC CO. and WILLARD GRANT CONSPIRACY to name a few. Currently touring with Inertia artists LUCERO followed by the acclaimed NINA NASTASIA.
