'Plague Songs' is a fascinating, unsettling and unique project comes down to one simple idea: a collection of songs based on the ten Biblical plagues that take place in the book of Exodus.
Features great contributions from a stunning array of highly respected artists such as SCOTT WALKER, RUFUS WAINRIGHT, BRIAN ENO, ROBERT WYATT, STEPHIN MERRITT (MAGNETIC FIELDS), LAURIE ANDERSON, CODY CHESTNUTT
These songs were originally commissioned by a British arts organisation called Artangel to form part of a large-scale public art event to occur late 2006, the festivities will form part of a feature film which is to be broadcast and screened in 2007.
The 4AD release gathers together the 10 original recordings, presented in Biblical plague order.
All ten tracks are exclusive to this release; and despite their various soundworlds and approaches they form a strikingly coherent and convincing whole.
Plague Songs will be serviced to mainstream and indie media for review and features as well as Triple J and Indie and Community radio.
