El Perro Del Mar
Rogue Records
POP
A unique new Swedish siren, bridging a warmth and depth of humanity with an ice-cool delivery. SARAH ASSBRING aka EL PERRO DEL MAR conveys beauty and sadness with glorious euro-flavoured fragility.
El Perro Del Mar has been likened to 60's French Pop, melancholic JANE BIRKIN, Lo-Fi PHIL SPECTOR, Ice Queen DOO WOP and a contemporary Swedish NICO.
Yet these comparisons only take you half of the way into understanding the true sound of El Perro Del Mar. Get set for truly one of the most remarkable albums of 2006.
After releasing a handful of singles and EP's in and around Sweden, Sarah first gained large attention after she worked with fellow countryman JENS LEKMAN and released a split 10'' vinyl on Jen's American label SECRETLY CANADIAN. It quickly sold out in a matter of days!
2006 has been a busy year for El Perro Del Mar, she has been playing around Europe, accompanying beautiful acts such as CALEXICO, JOSÃÂ GONZALEZ and the CONCRETES. As well as a very special Christmas concert together with the remarkable JENNY WILSON.
Licensed Inertia's inhouse label ROGUE RECORDS home of COCOROSIE, VASHTI BUNYAN, METALLIC FALCONS, DANNY GEORGE WILSON, SMALL SIPS, LAMBCHOP from MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES (home of THE GO! TEAM and BLUE STATES).
Accompanying the lead single "God Knows" is a beautifully animated film clip from the award- winning designer ASA ARNEHED (LO-FI-FINK, MTV). Currently being serviced to national TV Stations. Expect to see this clip on your box in the coming weeks!
The Australia / New Zealand edition is packed with an extra 4 bonus tracks, and includes songs from the EPs as well as songs culled from the UK version of the album, and a brand new, previously unreleased song! That's more bonus action than a pinball wizard!!!
