Dardanelles Ep
Mosquito's Tweeter
INDIE
Origami Tree is the debut for 'dark dancefloor post punkers' DARDANELLES who comprised of ALEX CAMERON - (guitar, vocals), JOSH QUINN-WATSON (vocals, synth), JAMES NICOLSON (bass), RAVI SANDHU (drums)
Spending the last year playing in Melbourne and Sydney with JOHNNY BO BOY, THE VALENTINOS, RED RIDERS, EXPATRIATE, YOUNG and RESTLESS, and BANG GANG, Dardanelles continue to accelerate, having built a loyal following on the back of a sweaty, schizophrenic live show, and internet streaming of a self-funded demo.
Their listed influences range from JOHNNY CASH to KRAFTWERK, the KLF to NWA, and with good reason. Chop guitars and S&M synth slap against a rhythm section with a disco/dirge split personality. Punk choruses snap into rave breakdowns, indie-rock instrumentals soundtrack whitee rap ad-breaks.
The songs on the album deal with sociopaths ("Origami Tree"), reverse evolution ("Instinct"),exile and betrayal ("Georgi"), mental illness ("One Plus One") and spiritual bankruptcy ("Of Course You Said") and In Dardanelles' hands, they somehow manage to be uplifting and danceable!
