DANCE
THE GLIMMERS shimmer on 'Fabriclive 31,' a beautifully varied mix that features some of the best sounds in disco, electro, reggae, hip hop and punk.
With their everything-in-the-box DJing style, internationally renowned stars THE GLIMMERS have an unparalleled sense of eclecticism, which shines through brightly on 'Fabriclive 31'.
'Fabriclive 31' bangs with some of the freshest sounds in disco, rock and electro today, although, ironically, most of the records were produced 20 years ago.
With THE GLIMMERS coming on board to the fabriclive mix series, they've gone and further cemented the club's wildfire approach which has seen more dalliances in eclectism over the past few offerings. Which will no doubt piss of the purists wanking over one genre on messageboards; their loss, however, is the music lover's infinite gain. Opening with the their own delightful rework of Bryan Ferry's majestic crooning in ROXY MUSIC's 'Same Old Scene', The Glimmers progress through the gorgeous slow strut of Fingerprintz' 'Wet Job' to the shimmering synths of The League Unlimited Orchestra and then through the click clackitty percussion on own production 'Kobe's In Columbia'. And this is all within the first five tracks. Elsewhere the cut-up vocals of The Holy Ghost, George Kranz's rapid fire gibberish and Black Slate's tempestuous dub fight for elbow room with LCD Soundsystem, Prins Thomas and even Freddie Mercury.
