Teenager
Dell'orso Records
INDIE
'Teenager' is the first release on DELL'ORSO for Tuscaloosa, Alabama band THE DEXATEENS following their two albums for the ESTRUS label.
It is their 'unreleased' debut album that the band recorded in the Spring of 2000 in 2 days flat, and as such laid down the foundations of what was to come with 'The Dexateens' and 2005's 'Red Dust Rising'.
This album finds them at their most primal MOTORHEAD meets manic Southern-fried rock, and reminds us of our old favourites THE OBLIVIANS.
Recorded in Water Valley, Mississipi with FAT POSSUM producer, BRUCE WATSON and mastered by RODNEY MILLS who was the engineer on LYNYRD SKYNYRD's 'Street Survivors' which when you hear this album is entirely appropriate.
Their last two records have gotten GLOWING press. Here's just a fraction:
THE MISSOULIAN "...if BLACK FLAG kidnapped GRAM PARSONS and the BLACK CROWES showed up to pay the ransom...By far the best release I've heard yet this year."...MOJO (((( "...nods to CRAZY HORSE, THE FLYING BURRITO BROS & 'Exile' era STONES while weaving it's own distinctive spell."...ALL MUSIC GUIDE "...gritty, hedonistic perfection."... PUNKUNITED.COM "...as if SONIC YOUTH were from Mississippi instead of New York City... a grimy, sweaty, punk, rock and roll bar band. You can practically taste the cheap beer and feel the humidity of a hot summer Alabama night through the speakers. Fantastic."... ART ROCKER "It's the kind of record the KINGS OF LEON might make if they were a) talented, b) old enough to shave and c) not obsessed with the Strokes."
