MISTA SAVONA

Melbourne Meets Kingston
Elefant Traks
REGGAE

'Melbourne Meets Kingston' is the pioneering collaborative album between Melbourne producer MISTA SAVONA (ILLZILLA) and a primo list of Jamaican vocalists.

Mista Savona creates a musically exuberant and authentically bass-heavy backdrop for the extraordinary vocals of the legendary BIG YOUTH ("The voice of downtown Kingston in the 70s, in his home country only Bob Marley rivalled him in popularity." BBC MUSIC); the charismatic and prolific ANTHONY B; award winning DETERMINE; Melbourne artist VIDA SUNSHINE, whose credits include work with NITIN SAWHNEY and LIONEL RICHIE; as well as many other vocal guests - almost entirely recorded in Jamaica!!

'Melbourne Meets Kingston' is the first entirely dancehall and roots reggae release on ELEFANT TRAKS, building on from the hip hop/reggae crossover of ASTRONOMY CLASS.

Recorded in Australia and Jamaica, mixed at Sing Sing Studios and mastered at 301, the album does wonderful justice to the bass heavy riddims of Jamaican music. Manufactured in a beautiful presented digipack with a picturesque 24 page booklet, this is truly one of the most impressive releases to come out on Elefant Traks.

JESSE I - CHANT DOWN SOUND "Melbourne Meets Kingston a landmark for Australian music - this is the first time and Australian producer has worked extensively with big-name Jamaican artists over a full-length album. More importantly, it is the strongest reggae & dancehall album produced in this country to date."
