Spank Rock consists of NAEEM JUWAN (MC SPANKROCK), ALEX EPTON (ARMANI XXXCHANGE), CHRIS ROCKSWELL and RONNIE DARKO (a.k.a. THE BALTIMORE BASS CONNECTION). and toured Australia twice now. Their debut album ‘YoYoYoYoYo’, released in 2006 on BIG DADA/INERTIA, was hugely celebrated throughout the press worldwide (from the NEW YORKER to THE GUARDIAN to THE INDEPENDENT, among countless others), and quoted by many as ‘Album Of The Year.’
Spank Rock took their unique Baltimore gutter flavour from the East Coast to the rest of the globe, touring worldwide with HOLLERTRONIX, M.I.A. GNARLS BARKLEY and BECK.
Spank Rock have an imaginative, artistic sound that no one else can quite touch: they combine hip hop with the bass-driven sound of Baltimore house, filtering filthy rapid-fire party raps into deep electro and furious ly quick BPMs. The tracklisting is quirk diverse selection of electro and techno classics (“Yello”, “Yes”, “Dominatrix”) and current monsters like SIMIONS MOBILE DISCO’s “Hustler”.
