The most heartfelt and intense American music comes from a tradition of national sorrow. The longing for home embodied in the low moan of the blues. The smokey stomp of the juke joint blues and the high wail of back woods country. Traditions that are evident in the music of SHORTSTACK.
They write murder ballads, stories of redemption and songs of persecution with haunting biblical overtones. Using native instrumentation of American music: drums, guitar, lap-steel and upright bass drawing upon musical traditions from the earliest of country and blues through the birth of rockabilly to the rock and roll of contemporary revivalists.
